Fountain Tire is seeking a dedicated Accountant to be a key player in our dynamic stores accounting team based at our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office.
Purpose:
This role is responsible for ensuring all entries are recorded in the proper periods thereby enabling the completion of accurate and timely monthly financial statements

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Support the field with guidance on accounting transactions, processes, and investigation of any related queries
- Ensure month end entries and intercompany reconciliations are accurately completed by the specified deadlines
- Ensure subsidiary records for accrued purchases agree to the general ledger
- On a quarterly basis ensure that other significant balance sheet accounts are reasonable and any necessary entries are recorded by the specified deadline
- Ensure quarterly financial statement reviews are completed with the management team and the necessary entries are made by the specified deadline
- On an annual basis, ensure the store budget process is complete and accurate for budget delivery by the specified deadlines
- Ensure budget support is provided to the stores and operations are effective
- Participate in the store inventory count process, including training and review of count results
- Ensure inventory count support is provided to the stores and operations are effective
- Complete assigned year-end tasks by the specified deadlines
- Prepare corporate tax returns as required
- Complete working papers, lead sheets and other risk analysis, including the necessary entries to ensure accuracy
- Participate in the documentation, recording, and completion of share transactions, new store start-ups and closures as required
What does it take to get on track?
- College diploma with a major in accounting and 3 to 5 years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Enrolment in the CPA program would be considered a definite asset
- Working knowledge of financial statement preparation and reporting
- Proven organizational and time management skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands within tight deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other Financial Reporting software (Microsoft D365, Power BI, TaxPrep)
